Injuries and Symptoms

Injuries caused by the misapplication or defective production of the patch can lead to serious problems in patch recipients. Such problems are often very painful and can become life threatening. In most cases, the injuries can be corrected, but it is important to be informed and receive proper advice regarding the various options you have.

Potential serious injuries can include:

Bowel Perforation
Chronic Enteric Fistulae (the recurrence of unnatural connections between the intestines and other abdominal organs)

Symptoms may manifest and increase in intensity over time. Such symptoms should never be allowed to continue unaddressed because of the exacerbation of already damaged abdominal tissue. The symptoms could include:

Abdominal pain (unexplained or persistent)
Fever
Tenderness at implant site
